Now that marijuana is legal in California, marijuana products are being rejected by the state. Regrettably, new laws come with new regulations. Mandatory statewide testing is a new regulation have rejected 20% of the marijuana products due to new potency and purity requirements. Since recreational marijuana was legalized in California on Janurary 1, 2018 dispensaries had 6 months to sell all of the manufactured products, leaving nothing behind.

The problem is not in the dispensaries, it is not in the cultivators, nor the manufacturers that hit too tiny a target when gauging levels of THC. The regulations are that the THC concentration needs to be within 10 percent of what is advertised on the product level. So if they are tiny amounts over the limit, they are being rejected as well. Out of 11,000 samples tested in the first two months, 2,000 failed to make the cut. In most cases, the products had to be destroyed. This is really bad for marijuana businesses that rely on the test results.

Tunnels Connected From Mexico To The United States Are Being Discovered

US Federal Authorities Discovered Tunnel That Connected The United States Restaurant To A Home In Mexico.

If they can’t get over the border they will find a way to go through under.

Tunnels have always been a huge issue for the United States and Mexico. Just recently an empty KFC Kentucky Fried Chicken location was spotted as an entrance to a nearly 600-foot drug tunnel that connected from San Luis to a home in Mexico. The old KFC restaurant is located near the Mexico border line. The only reason they were able to detect this illegal activity, was because they discovered Jesus Ivan Lopez Garcia with over 1 million worth of controlled substances in containers such as cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and heroin. Records revealed Lopez had purchased the former KFC in April, paying $390,000 — all cash (not a coincidence) — for the abandoned restaurant. Soon, authorities from Immigration and Customs EnforcementICE obtained a search warrant and surrounded the building.

The City of Los Angeles Has Racked Over 2 Million in Permits to Sell Marijuana

The city of Angels has made over $2.35 million from companies applying for temporary permits to sell recreational marijuana.

The revenue is for the application fees by itself, 112 marijuana business received short-term license to sell marijuana in the city. Less than half that was approved also obtained a separate state license needed to sell bud in the city. 47 businesses in total are now licensed by the state and city to sell recreational use in the city of LA.

Los Angeles city officials estimated that recreational sales will generate over $100 million in tax revenue yearly. Marijuana business taxes will not be fully collected until July 2018, but those funds, along with the money brought in through the application fees.

Buyers are seriously facing plenty of additional fees. Here are where all of the fees are going:

State Collects 15% excise tax on recreational marijuana sales.
The city of LA is also implying a separate 10% business tax.
That is on top of the countrywide 9.5% sales tax.

Cronos Group will become the very first marijuana company to trade on a major US stock exchange.

The company owns and operates businesses that are licensed to grow and sell weed in Canada, where medical marijuana is completely legal.

According to Cronos Group’s CEO Mike Gorenstein, the listing could show governments and investors that the legal marijuana industry has arrived.

Cronos Group, a huge Canadian company that’s like Proctor & Gamble for marijuana products, has received approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission to start trading on the Nasdaq.

The Company is based on Toronto and plans to list in the stock market under the symbol “CRON” as early as February 26.

This is a big milestone for the marijuana industry. Cronos Group will become the first company that grows and sells marijuana to list on a US stock exchange. American companies that process the plant have been sidelined because marijuana is still federally illegal. But Cronos Group got themselves approved.
